Not Registered = No 10 Year Equipment Warranty
Why is it important to register HVAC equipment? It’s simple. As a result of not registering, customers will not qualify for the 10 year equipment warranty for their HVAC system. If a part should need replacing, the customer will pay out of pocket for the repair. On the other hand, if the equipment is under warranty, parts will not cost anything for 10 years! At JAK Services, if we install the system, we will automatically register the customer’s equipment and, therefore, send a confirmation with a proof of warranty! Unsure if your equipment is under warranty? Please visit the brand’s (American Standard, Carrier, Lennox) website to double check. By entering the model and serial numbers, the equipment should pull up. If the numbers aren’t recognizable, more than likely the system is not under warranty.
New Home Owners & Warranty
New home owners are often told that the HVAC system is under warranty. However, if the HVAC equipment isn’t listed under the new home owner’s name, the warranty becomes void. After purchasing a new home home, there are only 90 days to transfer an equipment warranty into the new home owner’s name. Moreover, if the transfer doesn’t happen the warranty is no longer valid. It is very beneficial for the new home owner to make sure the system is under warranty. Consequently, it will save so much money long term if something should go wrong with the equipment.
Preventative Maintenance & Warranty
Lastly, preventive maintenance can aide in prolonging the life of HVAC system and greatly improve its efficiency. HVAC systems are not small investments, so protecting the investment with an annual maintenance agreement is crucial. Furthermore, some warranties require annual preventive maintenance.
